Getting it for zoom calls -- we already have the amazing Nvidia Shield (my precious) for streaming TV. Not thrilled about the reports of voice cancelling/feedback issues with a receiver (or soundbar) but I'm OK with switching to TV speakers if that's the way. @FadyJ not terribly surprised the Portal TV is inhospitable to Google products -- maybe when Meet and Duo merge the situation may improve? Probably doubtful since Meta has discontinued their Portal devices.
Quick update: got and set up the Portal TV today. Seems nice. Ran a zoom call and it worked exactly as expected. A nice surprise is sound was routed through our audio receiver and sounded perfect. No feedback or echo or noise cancellation issues. Just worked.
The easiest option in zoom is to have your intended participants set up as contacts in your zoom account, and then simply invite them. In our case it was another step or two to send the participant the invite via email (the option itself is a bit buried in the meeting menu).
The only other minor gripe is the living room doesn't seem particularly dim, but we had to really amp up camera low-light compensation, which kinda hurts the contrast. Maybe better in daytime?
But for sure it delivers on the most important feature, which is chatting with someone on the TV does feel more natural than on a laptop or tablet, let alone a phone.

Thank you!
