The purpose of an amplifier is to overcome signal loss due to splitters and long lengths of cable. When would you ever have an Indoor antenna attached to more than one TV and need a splitter? When would you ever have an indoor antenna located more than 25 meters from the TV? Good way to throw money at a non problem.
Ideally you would place this on a window oriented towards the most desirable (or most distant) stations you want, and in that case an extension cable will cause loss and the amp will help overcome that, but this is set up to use USB (from TV supposedly) power so you'd want a separate USB power supply located where the antenna is to overcome the limits of a long USB cable.
