Unless you're running a seriously power-hungry rig (i.e. multiple graphics cards, etc), this is an excellent PSU and certainly worth the $40 for a backup alone. Granted, the $120 "list" price is only shown anywhere on EVGAs website, but this is still half the price others are charging for a full-modular PSU.
Nah, Microcenter is not far
It's a bit tricky as the newer CPU's don't need as much power, but if you're running an older i7 and even one graphic card along with a cadre of SSD/HD/DVD player, in my experience, 650W is a minimum.
I wouldn't hesitate to use this on a gaming system with a power hungry CPU, 1 SSD, 1 HDD, etc (typical system) but only if the video card was under 200W TDP for some breathing room.

You do have a backup PSU, right?

Thank you!
