    why stay away? I have a Lenovo Flex 3 14" and a 4 14". Both core i5, 256SSD, 8GB DDR 4 RAM, full hd touchscreen convertible laptops and they are awesome! I also have a little 11.6" w/ intel N (something) processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB SSD and it is a great little laptop. They all have 7-8 hour battery life and are at least 2 - 3 years old. My work desktop is also a Lenovo.

    Flex is a whole line of Lenovo completely different from Ideapad. These are about the cheapest parts that they can find on the market put together by the cheapest sources.

    I love my Flex 5 14". It is a great machine. However, my Ideapad 15's LCD screen is awful, but it is fast.

    I know it is cheap, but with no SSD and (likely) mediocre screen and slow single-channel memory configuration...this isn't great. The 4500u is the star, here.

    Lenovo has the IdeaPad 5 for $540 with an 512GB SSD and IPS FHD 1080 screen and, hopefully, other better components.
