Canon OEM toner (cartridge 137) is about 75 bucks on Off brand with equally good, if not better, reviews go for about 10 bucks (give or take) depending on quantity. Not a bad price if monochrome is all you need!
I have used a Canon D530 (basically this monochrome printer model but not wireless) for about 4 years as a scanner, printer, and copier and it's bombproof. I have never had an issue with the D530 and have been more than satisfied with its performance. I got it on sale (probably from an ad here at Ben's Bargains) for about $100. The D530 stays hard-wired to my desktop in my office via USB and obviously cannot receive a print request from my laptop which is used throughout the house and is used more than my desktop. The D530 still in use, still works flawlessly, and it's now using its 4th replacement toner cartridge.
I have been on the lookout for an inexpensive wireless Canon laser printer for a long while now so I can occasionally print from my laptop. Here it is! This morning, I purchased and picked up the only one at my local store. I was also able to use my in-store-purchase-only discount cards that I received from in the last month or two by mail (which I obviously couldn't use if I'd purchased it from ). Out the door for $67.15.
Of course this new D570 came with a starter toner cartridge that will print about 500 pages. When I need a new replacement toner cartridge, I'll order a pair of Greencycle brand toner cartridges for less than $20 from . I've used the Greencycle brand replacement toner cartridges for my D530 printer for years and they're fantastic. I get about 2,000 pages from one cartridge.
I've never hooked up a wireless printer to my home network and including loading the software onto my laptop, setup and installation of this D570 took about 30 minutes and was easy-peasy.
So...for all the haters that don't like Canon or think that this model is an unreliable performer because of the price, you are wrong! This is a great printer if you don't need/want a color printer (which I'll never need/want) and the Canon brand is awesome. Thanks, Leothelion!
