^ Mattress is not included, but the one pictured folds into 3rds and is stowed in the top two rows of drawers, area, so apparently they are not usable.

Seems like a half complete product, if you have to hunt down a mattress separately and hope that it fits well. This is something that I'd rather see at an assembled in-store display, while I have a tape measure with me.
