When it comes to these devices, you need to spend money. Most of them only provide "assistance" in that they will help start the car when a main battery is only partially dead. You need one that will actually start a car even if there is no battery attached. I got one by Schumacher electric that started my car even when the battery was disconnected. It was over $100, but it also saved my *** a few times. I often travel to places that would likely require a multi-hour wait for roadside assistance to arrive.
bought one last year, not enough power to start my truck, had to use two to get it to start. (neighbor bought one also) used mine and his to get truck started. save your money. i leave mine plugged in all the time and it still is to weak.....
