Nice light but... C batteries? When you want only a little more capacity than a AA and a little less weight than a D cell...  It's like the drawbacks of each with the benefits of neither.  C batteries are useless.

If this were a D sized battery light, i'd be all over it.

^ I wouldn't say useless, get some of those Tenergy Centura LSD NiMH on
Amazon.
They'll cost more than the light does (4 pcs for $16 currently) but are 4000mAh and rechargeable is the only way to run a light unless you hardly ever use it.

Many of the current breed of combo Li-Ion/NiMH chargers can do up to the diameter of 26500 cells which is the same size, so they'll handle C NiMH but not D NiMH ("maybe" you could squeeze 2 x D cells in them at a time by leaving a slot between vacant but since this uses 3 x cells, not nearly as convenient).

Granted, some  chargers that can do 26500/26650 can only do two at a time too but the point being that a light built around a 26mm diameter cell fits nicely in the hand while delivering twice the capacity of LSD AA cells, and most chargers cannot do D sized cells except the really low end trickle chargers from 20+  years ago.

Frankly I'd rather a 2 x 18650 cell light but those tend to cost more if they have decent built quality and a true 1200 lumen output.

I purchased this light last time it went on sale as well as the larger Defiant 600 lumen. Both solidly built (for the money) but almost no difference in light output.

The only difference between the two is the 600 lumen light is more focused and the 1200 has a wider effective range.

^ There's the rub. If you want a bright thrower you should choose a single LED light with a deep reflector. Using multiple LEDs is best for closer quarters and double the lumens in a wider beam may not seem much brighter.

You may also be limited by alkaline batteries which don't have the current capacity that NiMH or Li-Ion do.
