I've owned an Ecobee for several years and despite the Nest having a bit more polished software, the remote temp sensors are a GODSEND for those with one HVAC zone in an older property. They sense where you are active in the home and use that sensor to monitor the cool/heat .
I want the capabilities without the internet connectivity. Does this work without the 'cloud'?
I'm sure you can disable the wifi feature and just use as a standard manual thermostat. I don't see any harm in connecting this to the providers cloud system other than giving away your IP? location and possibly any other thermostat stats.

This is a huge discount! I wonder if Nest is working on a 4th generation. A friend owns one of these and he loves it.
