Here's the VDownloader page comparing the free vs lifetime Plus version, and another popular, free alternative that I've been using but doesn't do conversions - nor do I need it to.
In some ways JDownloader 2 is more configurable but one nice feature in VDownloader is the Trim feature, where you can select the segment of video you want to d/l without getting the whole thing. Then again, how do you know which segment you want if you haven't already watched the rest too? Trimming a segment can be done with other software, even simple free utilities like Avidemux.
VDownloader also has organizationally oriented features if you need to keep track of the videos.
