Is there any major difference between this and cat6?

Cat6 = 10gbit
cat5e = 1gbit

of course system noise and such is better also but the main difference is speed for higher end networking. Most home users will not have 10gbit equipment so cat5e is fine.

All that typing and I am not even going after the giveaway Apple **** :p

decent price for a 500' cable but... most people won't need more than about 300' max. for an even largish-sized home.
