I read this and loved it. Yes, it could stand to be another 600 pages longer for the second setting of the book, but still fantastic. I’m not so sure how the movie’s going to turn out, though... Still, if you’re a Neil Stephenson fan, I think you’ll enjoy this “hard science” read.
hmm.. maybe it is worth a read. Book reviews are so wildly objective. I've read some snooze fests that have gotten amazing reviews, and some really enjoyable reads that are widely panned.
In for a copy. 880 pages is a lot of words for the money. Words are cheap these days, so why not. Drink a Starbucks, still got nothing comes in the skull. The book talks about some thousand years. That's a lot for $1.99.
Love sci-fi books, but could not bring myself to finish this one for some reason. Bogs down in areas with lots of details the typical lay person like myself might not appreciate. Also didn't find Doob (one of the central characters) to be very likable. Your local library might have a Kindle version for checkout.
