^ I don't think any pair of cans is worth $1199, but I've had > $100 Sennheiser's that I could easily tell the difference between other sub-$100 cans. Not necessarily better or worse for >$60 cans, depends on which make and model, and your preference.
Granted I was using a self built headamp with a 24V PSU. Higher Z cans are a mismatch/waste for any lesser source that isn't designed for them, even at the sub $100 price point.
