Select Prime accounts only, very YMMV! Amazon is offering a $25 credit for select members when you add a new debit card to your Amazon Wallet (go to "Your account" --> "Your Payments" to add card number). If you're eligible, you should see a blurb that says "Hi, you can get $25 by adding your Debit card to your Amazon Wallet now" on any product page and/or when you get to Your Payments screen.

You can also try adding a debit card to your wallet to see if you qualify (should get an email if you are targeted).

NEVER add a debt card to
Amazon.
You lose your recourse. If Amazon hands a package off to a "freight handler" which is just another shipper and that item is lost or a portion is not delivered Amazon will do nothing. It will be up to the seller or if you were smart you would have used a cc.

If you don't use the debit card as a form of payment you should be OK. I believe you only need to add the debit card, not actually use it.

This one is fishy. I know they did this, but what’s the $25 benefit for
Amazon
getting a customers debit card and bank account info above any other form of payment?

I was there the other day, and they offered me a $50 credit, which I took!
But only because I had a Debit card from rebate of Mobil1 oil
.....once those $$ spent, the card is dead :)
Otherwise, agree, much better to used a Credit Card.

Most debit cards now offer the same protection as credit cards.

You wont really know that until you see what steps your bank / credit union does about the questionable charge.

When you use the debit card,
Amazon
doesn’t lose the 2-3% fee that the CC is taking.

Also, I NEVER give my bank acct to any other institution that’s not another major financial institution (brokerage, other bank, etc). If a hacker gets into
Amazon
, you’re toast. If anything, open another account that is isolated from any other and keep a very small amount of money in it.
