hi,
here's my take on this .. as lithium-ion batteries continue to drop, with greater power density, most cordless tools vendors will adopt higher voltage (IxE=P) .. we are already seeing this in some other brands, and it would not surprise me if Ryobi and others are getting ready to introduce better models and getting rid of these... i think, there will still be continued support and good buy on these....

I own a number of Ryobi tools and I like them very much. This price, however, is not that great. It's same or worse than the "almost always on" sale price on the basic kit and a couple of add-ons which you may or may not need.
