Compared to the new i5-12400 at $9 more (been on sale for less), thre's no comparison: the 12400 is a better buy. Benchmarks about equal for multi-thread, but 12the Gen about 10% ahead in single-thread.. K model requires a "Z" motherboard whereas the 12th needs only a $125 B550 - and you get Gen-4 SSD performance too. Best part: at 65 watts at full-tilt, the 12th Gen runs quiet and cool whereas the K at 125 watts makes your rig sound like a hair dryer at full speed. Just sayin' - the 12's are real game-changers.
