Tempted but not sure if they're gonna calling "home."
It's a mess to switch to another brand since I have a bunch installed outside around the house. But, I guess, no choice. "Fool me once..."

A tad ironic I guess. On a serious note, if Anker/Eufy made a camera that (a) had a web interface, (b) enabled RTSP/onvif, and (c) worked without a LAN connection, I'd be 99% happy using it. Obviously I'm no fan of phoning home or open backdoors, but if I could ensure that there was no way for the camera to connect to the outside world I'm OK with that.
Of course, there's always the possibility of some really unusual firmware that enables the device to control something else in your house that DOES see the outside, but then there are solutions for that too like building a one-off net/subnet for your more "adventurous" devices. And I don't that scenario too seriously as (a) it's highly, highly unlikely, and (b) would be basically impossible for the above-average owner to detect (meaning: if it's true we are totally screwed at this point).
