Not my favorite lens but great for newbies. Note: No IS so at 300mm you need at extremely steady hand or tripod but, great price.. Canon sells this refurbished for $150..

This is about what the lens is worth - it's not fantastic, but it's worth playing with at this price. You might want to grab a nicer lens used on Craigslist if you want something with IS.
