I bought two B+D vacuums in the past and I wasn't too happy. The battery was not very durable, don't know if there was any improvement since then. I switched to a Lithium powered better model (Ryobi) and I'm glad I did.
For this price I expected NiCd batteries in it but the manual makes vague reference to Li-Ion in their recycling statement. Even so, I'd expect a couple of 18650 cells for 7.2V, not 5 in series or 10 in 5S2P config for 18V like you'll get with a Ryobi or other tool manufacturer brands.
