These will quite literally make the house shake. Very powerful with a clear sound. Great bass and a steal at this price. Setup can be a hassle at times for the AV challenged. Can't beat buying them from Costco and having the peace of mind to bring them back if need be.

I've heard amazing things about Sonos. thinking about making the jump from Bose. this may be the perfect opportunity!

Serious question...is there not like a "freeware app + existing bluetooth speaker"  combination that will effectively do the same thing for cheap?

Yeah, take ANY speaker, add a $6-12 board with bluetooth and an amp from
amazon
or
ebay.
