I'm not suggesting that you can't get good service out of non-Eneloop cells made in China, at least the low self discharge type from China have gotten much better in recent years. I still wouldn't touch the regular self discharge type if made in China unless they were dirt cheap and even then, meh batteries aren't that expensive considering the # of charges.
