I am very familiar with the Phone Drive: File Storage Sync app, and it is regularly offered free. Has been for years now. Bens listing shows the price reduced from $2.99. That price is for the In-app purchase for Cloud sync functionality, and it is STILL $2.99, NOT FREE. I got the app years ago, when Apple's native Files (file manager) app was inadequate (it's actually quite good now), and file transfer from an iPad or iPhone had to be done over USB. This app made the process more convenient by providing WiFi transfer as an alternative, while offering legitimate file management. Unfortunately, unlike other apps that offered this functionality, when the ability to sync files with Cloud services over WiFi was introduced, instead of including the feature, this developer made it an additional In-App purchase. The app itself is okay, *IF* you do not plan on using it with a cloud service, especially Google. That ability to sync with Google has been broken for over 2 years now. The developer regularly issues mystery updates, none of which add features, or address known bugs. The fact is, other than adding annoying pop up ads for his other apps, no new features have been added in years, and the developer never lists ANY information on what was actually updated, but seems to use updates as a method / opportunity to beg for 5 star reviews, a growing problem in the App Store. Despite reviews from users that make the In-app purchase for cloud services writing negative reviews or asking for their money back, the developer never responds to reviews, or to email. Without cloud functionality, the app has little to offer that is not available from other free apps. File transfer over Wi-Fi was a big deal years ago, but nowadays it is built in to most media apps, and file management, also now built in to many apps for their own purpose, is available through Apple's own included Files app.
