It's because this is a TiVo DVR that can record up to 4 shows at the same time using the TiVo service, which is usually $14.99 per month but with the TiVo Roamio OTA it's a lifetime subscription included in the price.

I have been using one of these for the last 3 years with an OTA antenna. Everyone who sees my setup thinks I have cable. I tell them its better than cable because I don't pay for my crystal clear channels without the pixellation from compression and it upconverts the tv signal to 2160p
