Plus how long do you step away from the grill? A simple timer might be of more use if you are prone to long excursions while cooking.

I had the igrill then Weber bought out the original company and turned my unit into a paperweight by the changing the app , hard pass

You don't BBQ by time you BBQ by temperature. Cooking the same cut could literally vary by hours. Any pitmaster uses a leave in thermometer so they don't have to open the pit to take the temperature. That said there are better thermometers out there.
