Picked this up earlier in the year for a few $$ more.
Pros: it's been stable, throughput and range are better than my old router, Netgear has issued 3 or 4 updates since I've had it.
Cons: The management interface is slowish and there's no WDS. Seems like there many be something else...
I've not connected any external storage devices so I can't comment on that feature. Bottom line is that you should do your homework on this to be sure it supports all the functionality you need.
Paid $20 more for this about 6 months ago. I set it up and then totally forgot about it, which is exactly what I wanted to happen. No connection issues and have not had any noticeable drop in speeds with a heavy usage family and 100gps internet.
Got an Asus RT-AC68R for about $20 more about a year ago. I set it up, its been stable, N and AC throughput and range are better than my old router, has WDS, management interface is great, Asus has issued a few updates since I've had it, has four GB Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, I've connected external storage devices to it and it works, no connection issues, no noticeable drops in speeds with heavy family usage. Bottom line is that I did my homework and it supports all the functionality I need.
I had this model and it died after eight months of using. If you can set it up right, the signal is very good. I Got a replacement from Netgear and the setup was painful, not like the first one, plug and play. I called customer service. They were not helpful at all. I had a hard time to understand foreign accent speaking people. replaced the unit. The third one acted the same thing, can't get the internet connection. It is just a pain in the ****. I decided to give up and switch to Linksys with a much better review. Will not use Netgear again
