This is a good price.
RO systems do generate waste water. Some of the best, expensive RO systems achieve a 1:1 ratio, meaning 1 gallon waste for 1 gallon clean. The RO system for sale here is more typical and standard and would generate more waste than 1:1, but this one does have standard module components at a standard size, meaning you can add/subtract components to it and use filters from a variety of companies. You can also add on a premeate pump(No electricity required) to really reduce waste water for about $50. The only thing I would wish this system had was the premeate pump, and a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) device. A cheap device that you can use to monitor the water quality indicating when your filters are going bad. They are a cheap add-on though you can buy from other vendors. I love my RO system!
I don't know, but isn't reverse osmosis overkill for most purposes? I can understand if you've got salinated or really nasty water, then this is probably a great solution, but for municipal water a simple filtering system would probably suffice!

Most simple systems only remove chlorine but not flouride which this will remove plus much more so for the price this is going to yield better quality water than what a basic filter can achieve,

Does this doanything for hard water? I have been looking for a system to help get rid of the water spots at the house.
My RO system certainly helped with lowering water hardness. The difference I noted was in the bottom of my teapot. With the RO water it never gets any scale build up.
