This is nicer than some of the generic ball bat form factor lights, using 4 xAA with a high/low/strobe driver instead of 3 xAA direct drive (which gets dimmer as the batteries drain), and a higher chance of coming near its lumen rating. Looks ideal for walking your dog, where the strobe or the ball bat functionality could drive away other dogs or crackheads. :)
So, the benefit of this design is... not having to use your Maglight to tune up some a-hole's skull? I don't get it....
Those huge maglights are incan bulbed so you'd need an LED retrofit for better brightness and runtime, or buy a new maglight which is more expensive, and more batteries which is more expensive, while it weighs a lot more which is more tedious to carry around (though does make for a better weapon), plus this product uses 4 xAA cells means you can just run a convenient to charge, even # of Eneloop rechargeables. Plus, the maglight LED drop-ins don't make anywhere near 350 lumens though the newer generation starting out LED comes a lot closer.
