I think that Panasonic and Remington must use cheaper batteries. I can charge my Norelco, and get three or four shaves. It also shows a pretty low self-discharge rate. I can charge my Norelcos, have them sit idle for months, and get at least one shave out of them. I've had Remington and Panasonic shavers not survive two weeks of self discharge. This is for foil razors, so not sure if it applies to trimmers as well.
^ All else the same, higher capacity batteries typically have a lot higher self discharge rate. Don't know if the cell(s) are spot welded in or not but in theory you could DIY replace it with whatever cells you want so long as they're the same chemistry.
