Caveat emptor! Any time you see a printer at a price that's amazing, look into the cost of ink. That's where you will be spending your money. The same holds true for pricier printers, but what you spend on ink over the life of the printer will make the price difference between models far less important. And the more expensive printer may have features you want, or it may make better use of the ink, lowering your costs in the end.
They (printer manufacturer) figured this out years ago, sell the printer for cheap, ink will always be expensive. That's why leeches (compatible ink sellers) are out there to try to cash in on your money.
Do you really need a color printer? I've used laser jets for years and love them. Had an hp 2 something that was great until it needed service and the parts were no longer available because the thing was 25 yrs old. Have a new hp now. Maybe once or twice a year I buy a compatible or refilled cartridge from Lovetoner for about 15 bux.
