For those who are on the fence between power block versus bowflex dumbbells, you should try both in person to see how comfortable it is for you. Both sets are great and durable. However, I feel that power block is better for those who doe not have wide shoulders. While doing curls with both on your hands, the bowflex set is longer and it will make you fan your arms outwards.

skip these fancy adjustable weights and go to the used sporting goods store for some used plates. there are spring clips to retain the weights & can be quickly released to change weights.

50 pounds is a lot of weight for a dumbbell - i cannot imagine anyone that can curl that much weight with each hand wanting this particular form factor. this could mean that other users may only want these so they can lift 20-40 pounds per hand. in other words, why pay for the extra weights above where you can lift (as well as paying extra for a form factor that is easily replicated)?

Just my experience!

Except there is more to do with these Powerblocks than just do bicep curls. Overhead press, dumbell bench press, shoulder shrugs, dumbell squats- the bottom line is you'll still come out cheaper with the power blocks and save A LOT of space in your workout area.

I use the Bowflex ones. Seems like most people seem to prefer these. I think 50 pounds is what you want. I use the whole weight for shrugs and could use more. I also use dumbbells for incline bench presses. Better to have more than enough weight.
