I have this deal and I don't pay for any equipment. I think your confusing this Verzion Fios deal with Comcast.

You dont need to rent anything. Fios routers are no longer needed. Just use your regular home router. It is an ethernet connection into the house now. No more coax.

it'd be wonderful if those was offered in more areas... best deal in Charlotte NC is half that speed for the same price

That’s a good tip. I should swap my router for an Ethernet input. The coax is awful.
