I love my Fire Stick. I could have gone with a model or two up but honestly, until I get a 4K tv there is no point. And then, my services will likely be built in. I like the stick because we can take it with us when we travel. It's nice to not have to find something on local hotel TV.
These (and their big brother, the Fire TV) are absolutely wonderful - I got some for my retired technophobic parents, and they actually managed to get them set up themselves, and now use them all the time. I initially got them the Fire Stick, which they loved, then got them the 4K Fire TV after their 1080p TV died and we got them a giant 4K HDR monster.
The Fire TV has been great for enjoying higher-def content on their new TV, but they still have Fire Sticks in the various bedrooms that don't have 4K TVs, and are perfectly happy with them. Neither of them has ever used the voice functionality, not do I expect they ever will.
In comparison, the various Rokus, the Apple TV and the Chromecast all ended up in the "these things confuse and scare us" pile, even after I spent hours teaching them how to use them.
I'd say get the Fire Stick if you have a 1080p TV and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, but if you have a 4K TV (or are planning on getting one), it's probably worth the price to go for the full Fire TV (based on Prime Day prices of $20 and $35, respectively).
